Tecumseh valve lash

I have a Sears ST/16 with the Tecumseh engine. The last couple of years I have had to adjust the valves before I start it. It seems to run fine while I use it, but I have to do it each time I use it. If someone can tell me the valve lash I would appreciate it, as I have forgotten. Also, what can I do to keep it from getting out of tolorences?
Thanks,
Vic

Is that a Tecumseh engine with the overhead valves?
If you are having to adjust the valves everytime you use it, my first guess is that something, either the cam or rockers are wearing prematurely.

Rocker arm clearance is .004" on intake/exhaust valves, also crown nut on rocker arms are torqued to 120 in lbs after setting clearance, another possible cause of problem may be loose rocker arm stud(s),worn rocker nut threads on stud, worn threads rocker crown nut.
