I acquired a Huskee 17.5 single cylinder 42" cut that has steering shaft gear that is just about worn out.
The steering shaft and sector gear sit in the open and the hole at the bottom of the shaft is enlarged.
Is the any way of adapting something that has bearings and is enclosed to replace the existing exposed gears?
The shaft/gear is available new, but the enlarged hole in the sheet metal is a problem.
The sector gear shows little wear.
Any grease on the open gears would soon attract dust and dirt from mowing.
Thanks
