Kohler 7000 series

I have a cub cadet with 7000 series kohler v twin. Motor spins with what seems no compression. Pulled valve cover to check valves and exhaust valve works fine but when intake valve works, it starts clicking and finally opens, but then clicks more and finally closes. Pushrod is fine, and can compress valve spring manually to work valve. Safe to say, maybe bad camshaft? It is less than a year old on a cub cadet ztr. Worked fine last year but this year wont start. Anything else to check?

Is this happening on both cylinders?

I haven't seen this yet with a 7000, but I have seen a cam lobe move on a Courage twin cyl. Camshaft, which those engines were the forerunner of that 7000 series. Is there any chance that your engine overheated or got low on oil? If it is only a year old, it should still be under warranty.

Don't know if both cylinders or not. Was checking it for a friend. Only removed one valve cover and found this happening, so I just buttoned it back up. And yes, it is still under warranty, so going back for repair tomorrow. It only has 27 hours on it and knowing how he is with his equipment, it has never been low on oil or overheated. Thank you for your help, I was guessing camshaft by the way it was doing.
