Looking at a 2001 Simplicity Legacy 25 h.p. 60 inch shaft driven deck. Looks to be in pretty good shape. All hydraulics work and the engine sounds strong. All electrical is good and operates as should. High hours (1,600). Asking price is $2,000.00. Seems a little high. Any thoughts on problems these tractors have or I should be aware of. Advice appreciated before I decide to purchase or not. Thanks.

I know NOTHING about the machine you are dealing on, but for two grand for a 17 year old machine, it better be pretty special!

Around here that is too high for one that old and 1600 hours. The Legacy is an excellent tractor that's been built for long time but Id pass on that one unless he is willing to cut the price 50%. Last fall I watched a real nice original owner Legacy with under 500 hours sell at auction for just over 1000 bucks, that was cheap but I own 4 garden tractors now.

Thanks for the information. I agree it is priced too high. The machine is in good condition, but the hours make me hesitate to purchase this machine. I looking for something for mowing the yard at my cottage as a back-up or second mower in case my good mower breaks down. My cottage is 80 miles away and I would be leaving whatever tractor I purchase on site for the summer.

Here is a picture of the machine. I have not gone to see it or hear it run as of yet.

Well it cost $7600.00 new if that helps. I own 4 Deeres now, and that orange one will do a prettier job of mowing than any of my green ones.
