Cub Cadet 108 Mower Blades

Trying to get the blades off 42 inch mower which mounts on my CC 108. Turned mower upside down. Blocked blades with wood and put 1 1/8 inch box end very long wrench on bolt with pipe extender, after heating bolt, and none of the three bolts will budge, although i'm old and not very big (he he). I'm assuming they are standard counter clockwise to loosen, correct? Threads look like that is correct, but thought I'd check with you guys. Any tips? I would just sharpen them on the mower but the blades are very worn, probably should be replaced. Thanks.

You can maybe soak them with ATF. But I will bet they will come loose with a good impact wrench. The hammering usually will do the trick. Good Luck.

I agree. A good 1/2 impact at 120 lbs. should take them right off. Standard thread. Just like a normal bolt. CC. When you put the new ones on make sure you smear some grease on the threads.

An impact wrench will loosen them up. Smear a little grease on the bolt/nut when you put it back together.

My home shop compressor is not good enough to run a strong impact wrench. I have better one 15 miles away but not convenient. I did get them to loosen a bit, using long wrench and heat and lubricant. They are still balky, but I should be able to finish the job now. Thanks for you help.

Hi, I put the silver color never sieze on the bolts when I put the blades back on. Good luck on removing. Ed Will Oliver BC
