So the local dealer had a LGTH24v54 lawn tractor still in the crate and it was late November and the dealer was anxious to move it out the door.
Price was right so we bought it and took it home in our own trailer. I was still busy combining so all I did was drive it off my trailer and right into our shed.A week or so later my son says he wants to try it out and maybe blow some leaves off the front lawn. I was not there but he said he went maybe 5 minutes and it thru the mower deck drive belt off and it jammed tight under the safety guard panels. He freed the belts up and was able to string the belt back thru the pulleys and when he tried it the 2nd timed, again the mower deck drive belt jumped off the pulleys. What do we have here, did the dealer install the wrong belt, tensioner, what the heck is going on. Anybody run into this same problem?

It sounds like you need to get that mower back to the dealer and let him try to figure it out.

Now that the belt has jumped once, likely one or more of the cords in it are broken and from now on it won't stay on period.

If the dealer can't point to some other part of the mower as the cause of the belt jumping, you may just have to buy a new belt.

Being your son was blowing leaves, you can check all the pulleys for debris wedged in them and under the covers. Also, if the front of the deck is excessively low, it makes the belt ride near the top of the idlers where the belt goes up to the engine. Excessively low meaning the blades are 1/4" or more lower at the front than at the rear.

alighnement issue thats nothing unusall out of the crate. seen it lots time, dealer has to setup alot of times to get it correct. check you alighnment.

Firstly.....did you get an owners manual and the operation parts manual with it? Lift the seat up and write down the model, serial, and part number for your machine. Go to the Husqvarna web site and download the manuals if you dont have them. Read how to set up the mower deck. Not really that hard. The machines built by AYP American Yard Products are usually very good machines. I have two of them and love them. Bet your son bent the crap out of something and will not own up.

Hi Jeff catt, Ya i tried to download a freakin manual, dont know why they just didnt supply one with the mower, webb site wasnt easy to manuvere thru and im not a computer tecky. Our previous tractor is a YTH1542, we purchased it new in 2000, and proved to be an excellent machine with the Kohler engine. We put 1200 hrs on it, and finally started havin electronic ignition issues. It came with a magasine type manual which proved to be very helpful in ordering belts and knives. So i know how important it is to have a good operaters manual,....

Bought a GTH2754 in 2004.

Belt shredded within a few hours of operation. Dealer came out and installed a new belt. Before he left the new one shredded.

Upon close inspection we found two things.

1. The belt was not placed between the pulley and belt guard on the tension idler. (marked in red)..

2. The belt was rubbing against the belt guard on the deck. (marked in blue). Used an angle grinder to remove enough material to give the belt approx. 1/2" clearance from the guard. Installed a new belt and ran it for almost five years before it wore out..

Replaced the factory belt with a [b:37c79ba7aa]API Products A-88667 K[/b:37c79ba7aa] belt from V belt and it is still running as good as a new factory belt.

When you go on their site you need the model or the part number for the machine. Little goofy but you need all of the information on that tag under the seat. Some machines have five or six manuals depending on the year they were built and what engine. You need all of that information. HUSQVARNA USA .
