5hp honda carb

Hi, I have a Honda 5 hp tiller that has been causing me trouble. It starts and sometimes sucks gas into crank case through the oil type breather. I have taken the float bowl off and checked the float thinking it might be stuck a few times. Now I think maybe the float needle and seat may be history. Anyone know of this problem! I was thinking I should take the carb to the dealer and get it rebuilt.
I could put a kit in it my self maybe? Ed Will

Sounds like the PCV valve is bad. The tube that goes to the carb from the PCV is where the gas is going in and if the PCV is bad it lets the gas flow. When good they shut off when gas tries to go in by way of the PCV. PCV is a one way valve lets crank case pressure out but should not let gas in

A bit more advice. Anymore it is almost the same price to just go on Ebay and buy a new carb. They run perfectly afterwards.

Update. I went on ebay inet found complete carbs for $8 or $10. Couldn't believe they are so cheap and some ship free. Trouble is my motor is about 33 yrs old. It doesn't look any diffferent than newer ones. Dealer closed today but will find more info tomorrow. Maybe a newer one will fit. Thanks for info. Ed Will Oliver BC
