Case 448 lawn tractor

It is my understanding that this spring that is in your hydraulic reservoir was originally installed in the oil cooler and over time, it migrated to the oil tank. It is not really a spring. It is called a Turbulator and its purpose is to
make the oil swirl as it passes by. The swirling action causes the oil to mix with itself so that more of the hot oil comes in contact with the cooler tube and gives up its heat. It is possible to reinstall the Turbolator back into the oil cooler. Use care and patience.
