Report on repowering the wood splitter

A while back I was yakking about the darned B&S engine on the 8 year old TSC sourced 22 ton woodsplitter. The engine gave me no end of starting grief and this season I vowed to change it out.
1. TSC cheerful, polite, referred me to Mfgr.
2. Manufacturer no help, just replacement part number.
3. Two different small engine places waffled and ducked on specifying a different will fit brand. DUH, of course they sell more than one brand and they are not going to get crosswise with one of their important suppliers!
4. One of them, however did sell me their B&S model that fit perfectly, starts quickly. $200-I thought fair, delivered at that price to my door. No more starting spray, no more heaters, no more being so tired due to starting that I couldn't split wood for awhil. No more "primer bulb"
I promised to tell how this would be solved, IaLeo

One of the HF units wouldn't fit? Nothing like a good OEM type
replacement but also a lot of poeple really like the Predators too.
Glad its fixed.

I have 2 of them that came on equipment I bought and they are well designed, easy starting, reliable power.....at a great price.

I have two "Brave" logsplitters with B&S 8HP engines.
I had hard starting problems with both.....the problem....
the carburetor mounting bolts tend to come loose from vibration and lose vacuum.
Once I figured it out, I used some loctite and have kept an eye on them and so far, no more problems.
