IH Cub Cadet 782 Hydro

Looked at a used 782 with about 700 hours yesterday. The guy that has it says that he was mowing and all of a sudden no forward or reverse, no noise, no lag on the motor which was about 2/3 throttle -- just quit moving forward. Claims it's been regularly serviced and had plenty of Hy-Tran and recent filter change. I checked the linkage, does not hang up and the trunion bracket on the hydro rotates normally ... I did not have a chance to check the lift or the rear end oil level. Motor runs good and driveshaft flexible couplings look like new. Just sits there and the hydro control moves the linkage with no response.

Other than 'hydro blew up" any clue on what happened inside? lol

A LIKELY place to look would be the little steel pin through the hydro input shaft that drives the charge pump. When they break the hydro soon quits due to lack of oil.

If the machine has a hydraulic lift, has that quit as well?

I would agree. It has been to me a couple of time. The pin is a Spirol Pin and can be had at your local Cub Cadet Dealer....[b:c6968b88ed]715-3000[/b:c6968b88ed]

Sorry, they won't let you edit a post.

Typo..... "it has happened to me a couple of times"

Thanks Bob and Roland. No problem getting the rollpin out, it's gone. Was at least a quart low on trans oil.

Should the hydro input shaft turn easily or is their normally any resistance when turning? - thanks
