I have a JD212, that seems to be not charging.
Where/what should I check? Course it doesn't have
an external generator. like my Case's....
Thanks

Here's a link to the ENGINE service manual and the tractor tech manual to help you troubleshoot the charging system,

Short version:
First things first. Do you have a battery going dead over time, or no charge on the meter?
That ammeter is inductive. Make sure that red wire runs through the groove on the back of the meter.
If you still have no charge indicated, get your multimeter out and start the engine.

Testing is done at the three-prong connection on the side of the voltage regulator. It's on the engine cowl.
With the engine at wide open throttle, check the two outside lines from the alternator under the flywheel.
If you have no AC there, you could have a bad stator or broken wire/wires.
You should have at least 30 volts AC.
If you have the voltage at the outside terminals check the middle terminal. You should have 13.5 volts DC.
If you have the AC but not the DC, you have a bad voltage regulator. If you have AC and DC, check the wires to the battery and
the meter.

My 26hp briggs had that problem. I just used my multi meter on the battery terminals. When engine was running fast it showed no charge. I bought a new one on ebay for $10. No shipping fee. Put it on, works like a charm.
