BS 17hp OHV engine

My mower makes a clicking sound in the carburetor area but the starter will not turn over. I had the starter tested and it works. The fuse is good. We did a continuity test on the wires and they tested good. Could it be the seat switch or the solenoid? How can I disengage the seat switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You don't say what this engine is on, so we are kind of in the dark here.

1. Can the engine physically roll over? I mean can you turn the flywheel by hand?

2. Does it turn part way and then stall? If so, Lots of times the valves are just out of adjustment.

3. The problem is not automatically the seat switch. Do you have power on the small wire at the starter solenoid?

4. Most Poulan, Craftsman, and Husqvarna machines have an electrical schematic in the back of the owners manual. I think MTD/Troybilt has them in the owners manual as well.

That clicking sound is probably coming from the fuel solenoid. its the round thing that is fastened into the bottom of the carburetor. All it does is open up when the switch is turned on to allow fuel to go through the jet in the carburetor.

Simple test that will tell you if it is the solenoid or a safety switch is this. On the solenoid there are 2 big terminals and one or 2 small ones. One to he small ones is the one that is going to the start position of the ignition switch. If you jumper that wire to the battery post of the solenoid and it spins over then the solenoid is good
