Look at ATV and golf cart tires for more options. I have gone through probably a dozen pairs of tires in getting what I wanted in terms of soft ride and traction on my machines and small hub wheels with ATV snow (stud) treads work best for both applications. Shopping the www one can find good deals.

My last purchase was the Deestone D929 22/1100-8, 4 ply, not 2, 5 psi rated at 50 mph (I run 12 psi at 10 mph on a 1300# ZT) from Simple$31 ea. Super traction and very soft ride. Also, offset wheels are available where the mounting disc is offset from the center of the wheel. Most are 3" from the inner rim and the outer distance varies as to the width of the the 8" offset wheels I bought to mount said tires are a 3:5.

Roland, I run 26x12-12 tires on my 782 w/o issues. I may have put spacers behind the hubs, can't remember. Have some steep hills to mow and more tire really helps. Doesn't slow down the M18 one bit. I would be more concerned about tearing a driveline coupling than holding that Kohler back.

The bigger the tire, the more power is needed to turn them. Standard physics and common sense should tell you that. The issue is, just how much.

People have used larger tires on the 782 but have run into clearance issues.

It all depends on what you are using the tractor for and willing to accept.

Ditto on that. The 782 and it's successor the 171x or 181x were a bit overpowered (and over-engineered) but that is what made them great.

I wasn't aware any tire company made a lugged 24x12x12 tire. But Yes, they would fit fine on a 782. In fact, guy I bought my 982 from went to several Cub Cadet Plow Days with his stock 782 with 26-12.00x12 Firestone lugged tires. Contrary to what Mule Meat says, most hydro Cub Cadets run 26 inch tall tires when plowing, garden tractor pulling, and when mowing the yard and clearing snow. Not sure where Mule Meat gets the idea the larger diameter tires make a 782 incapable of doing serious work but he is completely WRONG.

Dr. Evil--- Carlisle and Stens both list 24x12 x12 lugged tires. Expensive

My 982 had an old style Carlisle 26-12.00x12 lugged tire on it that I hated, replaced them with Firestone 26-12.00x12's. Big Improvement! Have 23-8.50x12 Firestones on my CC #72 with a K321 engine in it.

The Firestone 23-10.50x12 lugged tire that Miller Tire sells is about a perfect tire for a 782. They are an imported tire.

Check Xtreme Motorworks LLC .
They offer different width 12" rims with different offsets that will fit 12 wide tires. They can even make custom offset rims to meet your specs..

Be prepared to open the wallet a little wide for they do not come cheap.

26" tall x 12" wide tires would rob so much power that using them with a stock drive train that it would render the tractor about useless for anything other than show and light work.

According to, the stock size tire is 23x10.50-12.

You might run into clearance issues with 26x12-12 tires on it.
