Simplicity walking tractor

I recently acquired this small Simplicity tractor, cultivator and sickle mower. There are two tags on the cast iron gear case. One tag on top of the case shows : PAT 2,368,290 . The other tag on the side of the case shows: S 16061 R . Anyone know what model this is ?

I've been searching the internet and have not found one quite like this. Then again, I have no experience with Simplicity tractors so could use some enlightenment !
Also, the sickle mower is different than any internet pics I have found so far. The Tecumseh engine is of course a replacement. I'll probably leave that engine on it if I can get it running properly. I would like to get everything working - I have always wanted to try out a walk behind sickle mower. ( probably in for a big let down LOL ! )

Any help appreciated - Thanks !

Hmmm ?. the metal tag on the right side of the gear case says Simplicity. I'll try to post some close up detail photos. I will have to remove the right wheel to get a good shot of the tag on the gear case.

Look up the Simple Tractors website. They should have a listing of all the Simplicity walkers.

Huh. I was going to give you a direct link but the page I'm thinking of I can't find anymore.??? Anyways, yeah, that looks like a Simplicity walk behind.

Try this site- http://www.simplicityva.com/simpmodel.html

Bret4207 and Jr1983: Thanks for your help guys !!

I went to that Simplicity site again and I now believe my tractor is a Model B or D . Those two models look very similar to each other, but the D is supposedly 4 speed
whereas the B is only a single speed I think. Mine appears to only be set up for 1 speed.

My sickle mower is quite different from anything shown on that site, but i am pretty sure it is a Simplicity factory attachment. It just doesn't look "home made" or
adapted from another brand. The mounting is a perfect fit to the tractor frame and the T-handled hex clamping nuts are correct.

Will continue searching for info while tinkering with the little unit. I may post some more pics also.

Thanks again to all.

OK, Are the "X" braces near the bottom of the handles factory or a home-brewed add-on? Never seen a Simplicity with that "X" brace. The shift levers and rest of the handlebars look like early Simplicity for sure.

The wheels are from a D model.

The D model had slotted wheels for attaching dual's or wheel weights, where the original B models were solid.

Quickest way to tell

B model = single speed.
D model = 4 speed transmission.

I tend to agree, not a Simplicity- or not one I'm familiar with. The wheel hub ratchets are like a lighter Simplicity, but the sickle bar mower isn't like the Simplicity I had. Can't see the frame very well in the pictures. The whole arrangement looks different.

Hi , I have a model D it is single speed and
has 4 x 12 tires. your sickle bar looks like
a david bradley modified to fit the simplicity
also montgomery ward made a walker that
looks like the model D, Your cuitivator is
simplicity , to get your belt drives to work proper
find a belt that is close , then the idle pulley
is pulled up from handle on top to tighten belt
it has adjustment , the idler pulley rides on
bottom of belt, them when you get that set
bend up some 1/8 stock so that bend rides
just above and below the v belt when belt is
tight , the engine should have bracket or bolt
hole to hold the 1/8 stock

You guys really want to have a COW?. I have an original utility cart for that machine !! My grandfather had a Simplicity with a couple of attachments. This cart is in progress to be blasted and repaired. Will be painted the correct color too. Rustoleum hunter green.

jeffcat - that's a cool little cart ! I presume you can tilt it to dump. Does it also have brakes that press against the tires ?
