JD LA145 simple question

So this B/S engine has a mag correct?? So if it does there should be a simple wire one could unhook and it would run no matter what was wrong with the wiring correct>???
Thanks
I did find a copy of the wiring diagram but have not had a chance to study it as of yet

It SHOULD work that way, yes. You could theoretically disconnect all the wires except the battery cable from the solenoid to the starter, start the engine, and then use a multimeter to figure out which came from the voltage regulator and needs to go to the battery, and which came from the mag and needs to go to the ground lug on the ignition switch.

Might be just as easy to take the fly wheel cover off and simply look at the wire coming off the mag or look for the wires coming out from under the cover

That was what I was thinking plus since this thing has been rewired by mouse who knows what all is messed up on it. I know when you shut it off as it sits you have to turn the key to one position to kill the engine and another to turn off the head lights

I thought I posted this earlier, but don't see it, so:

I think that model may have a fuel shutoff solenoid on the carb. If so, you'll need 12v there as well as 'ungrounding' the mag to make it run.

What I plan to try is to unhook the mag wire so the switch will not shut it off. that way every thing else will still be as it is right now. Then see if ti starts and if it does try turning on the blade and see if it keeps running and if it does I'll just wire up a shut off switch. I have talked to the person about the safety switches and she understands them and knows if I wire around them she will have to be more careful. She told me yes I understand and would shut of off before I got off of it for any reason
