John Deere GT275 opinions

I'm looking at a GT275 Deere mower, its in good condition and has a 48" deck. Are these pretty reliable mowers? I'm not familiar with this particular series and don't want to get something that I'll regret!! The guy is only wanting $500 for it, well worth the money.

I got a 275 in 1998 and it's never had a problem. I also use a neighbor's 345 and actually prefer the 275 even though it doesn't have power steering or hydraulic lift- I don't think it needs it. Simple and straight forward. If it's in good shape for $500 I'd call that a steal.

I have just started using a GT275 as my main mower and like it a lot. It is a true G.T. The hydro is a very good one, Tuff Torq K70. The engine is pretty strong for a single cylinder 17 hp, good torque. Not much slows it down. Some engine parts are available from other than Deere for not such a dear price. If in good shape $500 is a good price. I got mine for less in an on line auction but it needed some work, but mostly just maintenance items.
