Steering column

I have a Massey 1450 I would like to rebuild. The steering is so sloppy I don't even want to start on the tractor if I can't repair the steering. Is there a rebuild kit available, or a rebuilt column? The tube seems to be loose where it goes into the steering box. Also, the bell crank assembly has a lot of slop. Thanks for any help. Greg

I am not familiar with a MF 1450. Is it a Ross steering gear, like on an early Deere or Cub Cadet? If so, I know the instructions are out there on the internet for the Deere and Cub Cadet versions. And I think most of them differ only in ratio and shaft length.

It would be a great help if you could post a pic of the steering gear where it has the slop. I, too, am not familiar with those machines, but they can definitely be made to work. Sometimes just an adjustment will work; other times it will require parts. Just gotta check and see.

I don't have the tractor disassembled yet. I want to get my MF 14 back together first, and I am waiting on the motor. It may be a while. I have seen videos and parts info on the IH columns, but nothing on the 1450. Guess I will have to wait till I get it out. Thanks
