pull hair out!!!! been fighting no start on brand new unit out of crate. talked all factory techs, briggs techs. already done what they said to do, still no go. when last talked they said let them know when i find it.i have tested all relays, switches, fuses, switched out ig switch, clutch switch, still nothing. bypassed everything then runs. but to get safety work to sell nothing. i know some simple but da!!!!it he!!! of it is this is sold so need get it going!!!!!!! model is Ferris 800 out front deck unit, going to go where i have other unit sold see if can pickup on something with them.

Well, in the past I have had to follow the start circuit through all the safety switches and relays and at each connection to whatever make sure I was still getting battery voltage from the switch. That included testing all the relays to be certain that they did indeed switch the electrical connection.
Without a wiring schematic you could be lost-I was lost on a certain Husqvarna until I saw on the schematic that the start circuit wire color alternated from yellow to orange and at the next switch changed back again.
There was also a Grasshopper (with a bunch of chopped up and spliced wiring, done by some yahoo that was going to 'make it work')-that I tested almost every circuit on it. After restoring almost 99% of the wiring in that one to correspond to the factory schematic, we decided to replace the entire harness rather take a chance that one the 2 diodes that Grasshopper had thoughtfully soldered into the harness was the actual problem.

I've heard in the past about some switches that work only one direction. Never had any experience with them.
Another possibility is that you may have a broken wire somewhere. Check for continuity while moving the wires around. This is something I've seen several times before.
...Sure would be nice if all you had to do was swap the wires on a switch and it'd work!

l have printed out wire diagram and even had techs at factory in on this they said do this and this, problem is already done those still no go its somewhere in the clutch side safety circuit. i have no juice from clutch switch. but have juice to it. already switch out ign and clutch switch just to see. all safetys have been pulled and check out, fuse and relays do too. all i do know as of last night still no juice to clutch.
O.K. So you know which wires going through the clutch switch are to the start circuit.
You just say 'clutch switch'. Is this the 8-pin pto switch that is s common to so many other mowers? I assume it is when I ask these questions:
Have you tried to put a jumper in the plug, eliminating the switch?
Have you checked with an ohm meter to make sure the contacts in the switch itself that are used by those wires in the start circuit to be certain that there is continuity between the 2 contacts when the clutch switch is off? (It is not unheard of to find the wires in the wrong places on the pto switch plug.)

yes 8 pin, i would think wire in right spot cause this unit had been running. i switch clutch switch with another no change . no jumper yet since i just switched switches , gonna try sunday get it solved after i get my load of sprint wing equipped mowers back from fair booth. need can sweet corn thou too.
