PTO question

The electric PTO went out on my Ford LGT165. I removed the pulley by am unsure if the plate attached to the engine comes off with the pto unit. I assume they both pull off the crank - am I correct?
Thanks!

I found on my Troy-Bilt MTD that there's what's supposed to come right off, then there's what has been rusted into place over 10 or 12 years. I finally got my PTO off, and I make sure I lube with a lot anti-seize grease when it goes back on.

Look close. On that old a model, that plate may actually be bolted to the engine. I know it is on some John Deeres.

On all the newer ones the clutch is just slid on the shaft and held there by a bolt and big washer in the end of the crank.

As T.R.K. stated.

A lot of the Ford's have a triangle shaped plate that is held on with 3 Allen Head type bolts that must be removed in order to pull the clutch.

So look closely before you attempt to pull the clutch especially if you need to use "gear" puller or pry bars.

Thanks for the advice. The pto is bolted to the block with four bolts, one at each corner of the plate. I just wanted to make sure the plate was part of the PTO.
