I picked this 122 cub up from a guy I know. It has a 3 speed transmission. Came with a blade and a show blower. Any advantage of the 3 speed vs hydrostat

No unless you really enjoy shifting.

Na....it takes a MAN to drive a stick. :) One really fun thing would be to pick all of the parts up for a GRANNY gear. If the plate between your knees has a slot with nothing sticking out, you can install a Granny gear. Cuts your ground speed in half. Great for that snow blower. Will cost ya maybe $200 bucks or a bit more. Lots of guys on here can tell you anything you want to know. Far as I know there are two types so let these guys clue you in. There are some real gurus.

The final drive gear reduction is what Cub Cadet calls...."creeper unit". The primary use was two fold, if these two implements were used. (A) for snowblowing, and (B) tilling where a reduced speed is handy.

Got the tire fixed on the 122 so I got to drive it around yesterday. Yes it does have the creeper in it. Took it out to get the mail and it moves right along in high gear.

That's a nice little machine. I've yet to see one for sale that wasn't virtually destroyed. Apparently lots of demand for them up here.
