Kokher K starter

Have a Kohler K 241 and in the need of a starter. Are the cheaper ones I see on Ebay ok nor do I need to spend the extra money for the genuine Kohler starter? Tractor is just a show tractor and does not see much use.

I did that on an old Wheel Horse, and it seems to be working fine. Keep in mind, if it ever gives trouble, you will probably have to replace it again rather than try to repair.

$60 vs $300 is simple for me Works good in my rebuilt 16hp and that's a stout motor.Got a
Taiwanese carb too.Works good.

First go into the Kohler service manual that has been posted on here
several times. There are TWO types of starters on these engines. The
originals were a true miniature wire fields starter. The newer ones
have permanent magnet fields. The newer ones are FAR superior. Faster
spin and much stronger. They are actually smaller in diameter. Hey,
replacement is a replacement. Not that expensive and they work so
nicely. ALSO some engines have over slung and others are under slung
mounting brackets. Just get the correct one.
