Plow-Trac Gear Shifter spring????

I am one step closer to getting my plow-trac to actually move on its own power. The gear shifter was rusted up pretty good but I was able to free up all the moving parts. I am questioning the spring that is attached to the side of the gear box. Is this spring in the correct location? I have seen a few pics and the spring seems to go straight down from the gear shifter, not run along the side of the gear box. Also, according to the parts diagram there is suppose to be a spring inside the gear box as well. It does not however show where that spring should go.

Does anyone know the correct location of these two springs that are on the parts diagram? Does anyone know what size springs they should be?

Thanks

I have a Plow Trac like yours, and have looked at others, none have or need a spring on the outside of the gearbox. I've never had the cover off to look inside.

I just took a closer look at the owners guide. The guide most definitely shows the spring and even gives a part number for it. In the picture the spring is going straight down so mine is not in the correct location. What I thought was a spring on the inside turns out to be one that works with the idler pulley. If you want a copy of the owners guide I can email it to you. It looks like the owners guide is for the newer models because the picture on the front shows a tractor with a recoil start, not the string style.

The spring on the outside goes between
Frame and the the metal part that the shift
rod goes through , I think its there to keep in
gear when going down hills
