Kohler Plugs

I crossed through a couple of plug charts and it looks like the NGK plug will be a B4L. All of my modern garden tractors,generators,etc. use the BPR6ES or the BPR5ES plugs. My engines just love them.

ckain(mi):

I am not a Champion plug fan.

Most Cub Cadet owners with the single cylinder K series engine use the Autolite [b:9ddc7f9e8c]216[/b:9ddc7f9e8c].

However, there are numerous plugs one can use.

I am thinking a NGK BPR5ES or BPR6ES is too long thread for a flathead Kohler. An H10 is only about 3/8 thread length and those NGK numbers are much longer shank because they are made for overhead valve engines. Even if they don't hit a valve or the piston, after the threads carbon up removal will be a challenge.

yup. I do not understand the hate on Champion plugs, been using them (only!) for years.
in my cars trucks, anything with an engine.... I am and always been a Dodge guy and Champs have been OEM for eons so that might have somethin to do with that... on my vehicles they seem to give fits if I DON'T put Champions back in ha ha... (side note you could not give me anything made by Honduh or Toyota)
Plugs are quite cheap, mass produced, and ceramic can be kinda fragile so I can see how you might get a bad one (probably due more to shipping/handling than anything) now and then.

I had a REALLY tired K-161 or 181 Kohler that was hard on plugs. A J-8 lasted as long or longer than an NGK. I had a Motorcraft plug made by Autolite break the insulator off inside a brand new Ford 300-6 engine. Luckily no damage done but I've never bought an Autolite plug since. That 300-6 had Champions put in it.

The H-10C Champion plugs work fine in my Kohlers, and I'm still running D-15Y's in my tired old Farmall pushing snow winter after winter idling around in cold Temps. If something was going to foul a plug It should be That tractor!

I only run ngk plugs in all of mine. b-6L I think is the number. Far superior plug to any junk champion. Much better performance and longer life in my experience.

I have not found NKG plugs to be any better then the Champions in some cases the Champions are the better plug and in some engines the NKG's are better.
