Can't get the steering wheel off! Ariens 934

This is a mod. 934 Ariens lawn tractor. I have to do this to get to the electricals under the dash. Parts diagrams show a pin holding it on, which I've removed, and a bolt down the center of the hub, which I don't seem to have. When I look down the center hole of the wheel, all I see is what appears to be the flat top of a shaft....no bolt head!!! I've soaked it in pen. oil but the wheel doesn't budge. Help!

Heat and more heat but you'll end up losing the steering wheel. You may get it off by putting a puller on it cinch it down and give it a rap with a big hammer a few times a day. Had one on a H that I ended up cutting the steering shaft. No easy way for what your trying to do.

bearing splitter under the wheel, steering wheel puller on top, bolted into the splitter. tighten, rap puller center bolt w/hammer, repeat. use all you spare good words, that'll drive it off!

That is a super idea. I was in need of something like that the other day. The vinyl of the wheel wrapped on around under the hub whereby the forks of the puller dug into plastic and were going to rip it out. I was trying to think of something I could ........... You solved it. Glad I decided to wait vs mess up a new wheel.

Now, let's see, just where did I put that puller......................

Thanks,
Mark
