MF 1450

So I am now the proud owner of a MF 1450. (my wife, not so much) The guy brought it last night. After doing a little searching on line, I am convinced he ran this tractor with the parking brake on the whole time he had it. The lever was actually rusted in place. Luckily there was plenty of adjustment left that I was able to adjust it and still have brake. Last night we had to block the tires when he shut it off in my driveway. Last night it would not idle and had to run with the choke about 1/3 pulled out, just to run at all. I took the carb off and took it apart. It was terrible. ( I blame ethanol, to a point) I cleaned up the carb reinstalled and it runs soooo much better. Also there was a little thumb screw gas shut off valve under the tank, it was barely cracked open. That may have been part of the problem also. Can someone tell me where to buy a service manual for this tractor.series # 2411 , serial # 002068. And also can some tell me the year? Thank You Greg

Back when I restored my MF7,(About 2000-2001) there was a discussion group on Yahoo. It may still be there.

Not familiar with that model, does it have a starter-generator, or is it an alternator system?

From the Tractor Data site your tractor was produced in 1978. A free parts manual can be found on the agco parts site, just sign in as a guest, model 1450 and brand massey freguson should bring you to book 651402 for your tractor, even has a parts listing for all the attachments offered with the tractor.. you can find a service manual on line or from an Agco dealer.
