STX38 Deere hydro transmission

I was using it yesterday pulling a cart after mowing the day before. I shut it off to load some branches. I started it up to move and it would not go forward or reverse. No noises. I jacked it up. if you turn one wheel the other turns the opposite direction as it should. If you disconnect or connect the freewheel lever, it can be pushed equally easy. If you have it in the air, you can rotate both wheels at the same time. In or out of neutral. There is a little drag when doing this. This is with or without the freewheel lockout. The linkages seem to move as they should. The drive pulley runs correctly with engine running. I am wondering if there is a key that might have sheared in the differential portion of the transaxle. There must be something broken between hydro and differential.
Any ideas? Thanks, Roy

You haven't had a wheel off recently, have you? I've seen people remove a wheel to work on the tire and lose the key.

That unit is about the age to have the input pulley with the 6 sided or 8 sided hub. I have seen a hub strip out and the pulley then just turned around the input shaft.

You said the belt was still turning the input pulley.

If neither of these is the problem, the problem is internal. I don't know if there are any repair parts available for those transmissions or not.
