I have had some problems in the past getting the right belt from the engine to the deck, haven't replaced the deck belt yet either. I just can't imagine why its so difficult to get belts anymore, maybe i'm not looking in the right place, especially considering how many of these were made. Anybody have good numbers?

Looking for the Mule Drive belt?
Try IH part #IH-490489-R2 (1/2" x 81 1/2"). NAPA and Advance Auto check for a L481 (1/2" x 81") or L482 (1/2" x 82") belt.

I was told by the Cub Cadet dealer that is also a small engine repair shop that you have to go through an CIH farm equipment dealer that sold IH stuff originally to get the belts. Our local CIH farm equipment dealer had no problem getting both belts for my 1250 last year. I wrote the part#'s down in the book for my 1250, but its 300 miles away at our other house. They are available. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Sometimes the section and length is shown in the parts description and then a good industrial supply can verify if you have an old belt to measure. Partstree has been good info for me and Motion is in my area, they can get the belt, usually far cheaper. Has worked for me on my 1863.

It is not hard once a person knows the Tractor and Deck model numbers. Without that information, it is anybody's guess.

I just remembered i didn't list the deck size. Is the deck to engine belt the same no matter what the deck size is? Maybe thats my problem.
