What is a Cub cadet 105 worth?

How much should i pay for a good running cub cadet 105? everything works, its got a new cylinder head and gasket, and it has been repainted it looks good. has decal kit too.

I really hate to lowball anyone but these model cubs typically don't sell for much. How much you should pay depends on how much it's worth to you. Using it or collecting it? For me that range would be only $400-500 tops. And the seller may have twice that much in it. I would like to have one but just to look at.

I bought a one owner CC 108 for $180. (standard transmission) I tuned it up including a carburetor overhaul and it has been running weekly for about 6 years.

Depending on how the tractor in question is equipped makes a big difference in the value. Having the rear rockshaft (called a "three point hitch" by IH but don't confuse it with a real 3-point) and a sleeve hitch would increase the value by at least $100 I would think. Also, the optional creeper drive gearbox is worth a few hundred just by itself so if the tractor is equipped with that it would tack on at least another $100. Finally, there was a hydraulic lift option that commands collector interest so having that relatively rare attachment would drive the value up even more.

Just today I was at an IH auction in central Kansas where about 7 "real" Cub Cadets (an Original up through a 1650) were sold. All ran, all had mower decks, most had good tires, and all looked at least decent. The high seller was the 1650 for a little under $500 and it went down from there to a low of around $150. Based strictly on this one sale (an admittedly small sample size) I'd say that a 105 should sell for maybe $200-300 if not equipped with options. A few years ago I gave $550 for a nice 100 with mower deck, sleeve hitch, and new bar lug tires at another local auction which was plenty high but I got a good tractor out of it so I don't regret it.
