Plow-Trac New Carb

It took a while but I finally got the carb apart on the plow-trac I bought. The engine is a briggs 170402. I pretty much mangled the main jet getting it out and the bowl is full of rust. I just happened to be looking for parts on ebay and I see I can buy a complete brand new carb for only $18. Anyone have any experience with these cheap carbs? I don't understand how they can make them for so cheap. A rebuild kit from my briggs dealer will cost about that much.

Hi I have installed 5 of the aftermarket carbs on Kohler K series and they all worked great and have a B&S one on one of my engines and its running good really improved the old B&S. I done know whats going on but there must be a big recession in China the first Kohler carb cost me $57.00 last one I bought $36.00 and now I see them at less than $20.00I think the Briggs carb cost about $30.00

yes thats usually why i buy complete carbs in this shop, versus rebuild kit cause most times not much different in cost, and its less time involved

I decided I would keep things original and rebuild what I had. Genuine Briggs rebuild kit was $28 and it no longer comes with the main nozzle, that would be $11 more!!! So for $18 including shipping I have a Chinese replacement on the way, so much for keeping things original.

Hi welcome to the real world in a year or so with drit and oil on it no one will know the difference.
