Is there a reason not to use aftermarket points ? My local NAPA said there would be no difference , Anyone have any experience between Kohler & good after market engine points?

They will not work on the Kohler K's many have battery ignition or they have Kohler's breakerless ignition, I have installed on 2 of my K series engines D Kirks points saver module and they work great.

he no longer makes the points saver but has his trandenserII these are a semi electronic system he uses the points as the trigger gets rid of the condenser.

Does anyone make an electronic replacement for Kohlers ? Years ago I got some little modules to install on a Briggs and Tecumseh to eliminate the points but never used them either.

Not sure what the Kohler points cost at a dealer but I have purchased several sets on Ebay for $15 delivered and aftermarket points are enough cheaper to entice me to buy them. That being said I have also installed the point sets that are supplied with the overhaul kits from Rotary Products and have not had any issues with them either.

Big problem with "new" points, some have a coating on the surface of the points. You need to use carb cleaner and rub them with stiff cardboard. I don't like files or sand paper because it will damage the surface. Real old old old points had a very thin coating of platnum on them. Just what I have found.

I've used the aftermarket points with very good results.
