Case/Ingersoll wheels

The tires on My 644 are very near their life's end and since Ag lugs in 15" are NLA I am planning on going to 16" rims and tires. My question? Is the backset on the wheel center of newer rims such as the 444/446 the same as early 600 models? And does anyone on here possibly have a good used pair of wheels for sale? I do know there will be some issues as to the clearance between the top of the tire and fender but have figured out what parts I will need to fabricate to make it work and still look good. I know a lot of people go with skid steer tires but this tractor is used as much for tiller and plow work as it is for loader work. any info. would be great Thanks All.

Yes, I do. I also have a pair of 15s off my 644. It will be going back together with 12s,mounting 27x12-12 ATV tires on a pair of longer loader/BH axles to get them far enough away from the tractor.

The six on six 12" wheel originally came on a Sears tractor from the 60s or early 70s.

Have you checked with Miller Tire in Wauseon (sp?) Ohio for those 15" tires? They can come up with some really rare tires sometimes.

I have checked with Miller Tire and I have to say they have some very odd sizes indeed, including 15" Ag lug tires, But I can't get them in a wide enough stance compared to the original 8.50x15". I found some nice 15" rims in My archives just right for the widest tire Miller has and had figured on welding in the original 6x6 bolt centers but after measuring where the rims and tires would end up on the tractor I am afraid with the narrower tires and My soil type I wouldn't have enough bite on the ground for the plow and tiller even with new tires. With the 15's getting harder to find and 16's more readily available in a wider track I figured I would opt for switching to a 16" rim and getting the wider track even if it means some sheet metal work to get it all to jive together.

I found some 27-8.50x15 R-4 tires for skid steers. They would work well unless you in real muddy conditions. The extra thick side walls and tread would wear great. It looks like they are priced around $75 each. This size in not unusual for skid steer tires.

I sold a lot of compact utility tractors with the R-4 tires on them. Most guys liked them. They also have a flat faced tread so more of the tread is in contact over the domed shape many AG tread tires have.
