John Deere 112 Tiller

Please educate me.
I have a 1968 John Deere 112 S/N 0073xx manual lift Round Fender. I want to put a tiller on this and don't know much about the details involved. I believe that I need a mule drive?

I think I found a 31 tiller, E0700 105647M. Will this unit attach to my 112?

Any pictures of how everything attaches would be grerat.

Thanks

If you have a round fender it is not a 1968 because 1967 was the last year for round fenders.
If the serial number is correct you have a 1967 model 112 with a Tecumseh HH100 engine.
The model 30 tiller was made for the round fender tractors.
The 31 tiller was made for square fender tractors. 1968-1974 110/112 and 1975-1985 200-series gear drive.
It would be a lot easier to find a square fender tractor for your tiller than a tiller for your round fender tractor.

I agree with Steve on you needing a #30 tiller.

No "mule" is needed, just an extra pulley on the countershaft that should be already up front.

A mounting bracket, part #AM30222, is needed to attach the tiller to the tractor, and some parts for the cable lift under the tractor, if those have not been previously installed.

You can view the parts breakdowns at the link below by entering "30" in the model search box.

I have a #30 tiller I'd sell, but I'm gonna guess you are not near north central ND?

It must be a 1967 then, no mistaking that it a round fender...
is the E0700 tiller that I found a 30 or a 31?

I have ne desire to buy a square fender 112...

No where new ND, I'm in NY.
Maybe if the price was right and it could be placed on a skid I would be interested.

Thanks for your input

NOT sure what the E0700 designation means. If you go to the parts catalog link you can see what each looks like.

The "30" will have a narrow front area where it attaches to the bracket on the tractor with notches in it.

The "31" will have a wider "quick attach" front with notches at the bottom and spring-loaded pins to snap it in place on the tractor frame.
