Wheel Horse starter

I have a 1979 Wheel Horse with a 10 HP kohler. Last time I went to start it a flame shot out from under the front and now nothing, Not even a click. In anybodys opinion what would be the cause. ie: would it be the starter soloid or the starter. I would like to start on repairing it asap because the weaTHER IS GOING TO BE WARMER AND I work in an unheated building. Thanks Henry

Just pull the starter and have it checked out. If shot a flame you should be able to find something charred. Does the starter set directly under the carburetor? Could have leaked some gas on it, also look for burnt wires.

Check the wires, maybe one burned off or has a lose connection.

I agree with Tom....sounds like the wire may have lost its connection or burned off.

It sure sounds like an arced, battery cable, at the starter conection!
