Is a 1970 gravley 408 in running condition worth picking up?

Look it over real good, if it is a hydro drive and has any leaks they can be quite costly to repair. I am told this by a Gravley dealer that has an old one that is leaking. He said it is very labor intensive to repair. Just my 2 pennys.

They were built not far from me in Dunbar WV where Gravely got it's start.

Kohler K181, 8 hp engine, 8 speed transmission (4 foward, 4 reverse).

Yes a near 50 year old Gravely lawn tractor would be worth picking up. Be great to get the blade and snowblower to go with it. Rare..

ALL 408s are belt and gear drive. Cast iron front axle, cast iron transmission. 4 forward gears, 4 Reverse gears. K181 Kohler cast iron engine. Very sturdy little garden tractor.

It would be fun to play with!

They were Gravely's attempt to make lawn tractor that was more competitive in price with other brands. It didn't use the same transmission as other Gravely tractors, and didn't use the same attachments.
