I've owned a couple of David Bradley tractor in the past, but am not an expert.

The model number 917.57583 was advertised as 5 hp. It used a Briggs and Stratton model 14 engine. Your engine numbers indicate a model 14 type 202087 serial number 258465 engine. Briggs rated the engines from about 3 hp to over 5 hp---depending of the rpm of the rating.

I can't date the tractor any closer than the mid 1950's. I admire your ability to completely rebuild an engine without knowing more than the block being cast iron.

This may not be the place to bring this up but here goes. Over the years I have accumalated 4 DB tractors(not running) 2 plows, sickle bar mower,2 cultivators and 2 harrows. My
barn is falling down an this stuff has to be moved. I have over $400.00 in this but am open to offers. Just north of St.Louis 20 miles at West Alton,Mo. Cell 314-313-9948 or e-
mail. Thanks GENE

Off topic slightly but may jog some memories of readers.

When I was a young lad....talking about '40's, grand dad on daddy's side had a 5 acre rural homestead where he had a huge garden. He used a
walk behind DB to work his garden which was a work of art. I recall planting potatoes where he would hoe the hole and I'd drop the potato eye
and the DB was sitting close by. Seems the holes would never end. I wanted to play, not work. I could fish and shoot my BB gun at black birds
and all. Got to use my Christmas camping Axe to chop off the head of a big white hen grandmaw and I prepared for a Sunday's dinner (noon
meal) once. That was a new experience for me.

Other thing I got out of that was the benefits of fertilizer. He had 2 Dill plants, one of which received the benefit of his "relief" when needed.
The one not getting his attention was about ⅓ the height of the other. He did bring that to my attention one day.

I had a great time on their little place out in the country, even though he made me (asked me to help) work some times. And then there was
Grandmas Angel Food cake with pink icing...yum yum. Fond memories.
