Winter progect,I got a Garden Max and need to replace engine anyone knkow where I can find a shop manual for this thing? Or how to get the engine off , Thanks for any help.

The engine on a Troy tiller is pretty easy to get off. Now I am trying to remember back 20 years when I did my machine that I still have. Just go on line and download the PDF file. Found it in like 30seconds. The yoke from the back to the sides of the engine moving platform,,take out the two bolts and drop the drive belts. She lifts right off of the pegs. After you put on a new engine there are a couple of other things you should replace. The backup disk and the belts if they look crappy. At the bottom of the yoke there is a cast block where the locking roller rides up and down on. I would change it. A new one makes all of the adjustments very easy.

I have a Troy Bilt tiller that had the 6hp Tecumseh and I sold the engine for $65.00 and I bought a 10hp B&S engine with electric start.
I'll soon be 84 and we still have a garden. Retired in 1989 after 38 years testing military vehicles. Our daughter was born at FT Bragg

I took the old Tecumseh HH60 off my mine and replaced it with a Predator (7hp?) I bought at Harbor Freight. Everything bolted up perfectly - you can feel the lighter weight of the new engine - but then you can also tell the power was way down on the old Tecumseh too. For the $99 I spent on the Predator I figured I could replace it several times before I spent the money on a "good" Honda or Briggs.
