Awhile back I picked up another tractor with an Onan on it, B48G GAO19.9/3738B SER# A803505016 Anything bad about this series or will it hold up as well as my 18 hp Onan? It barely has 2,000 hrs. on it and I'm cleaning the cooling fins and shrouds now...figured one more bolt and might as well pull the flywheel. I have noticed on the spec. tag that it only holds 1.75 qts of oil where my 18 hp holds 2 qts. Hopefully I don't run into problems and need to bother you constantly. Still replacing rotten gas hoses and dry rotted tires......

Ray that is a good unit.Used in allot of mowers. 19 HP made in January 1980. Service manual is 965-0757. Main problem I have seen is no one keeps the fins clean. Can overheat and drop a valve seat. Make sure to keep the battery charging regulator. Plugged in tight.Oil filter base needs to be checked for loose bolts. At least on that one you can change the starter without pulling the engine. Just worked on a JD 318 mower. Had to pull the engine to change starter. 1981 model and still going strong.

Glad to help anytime.
