Re_ 646 Hydraulics

It will mix.

Thing to watch for is to use the same types of oil. You do not want to mix conventional with synthetic.

It is unlikely that you have synthetic oil in the hydraulic system but even if you do, adding conventional oil poses no problems. The real question here is this. How long has it been since you totally drained and refilled the hydraulic system? There is no proper oil filter on the 644 and 646 models and the only way to get rid of the contaminants is to drain the entire system. That is a messy proposition because you have to support the bucket, remove the hoses from all the cylinders one at a time and then disconnect the rods from the loader so you can pull and push them in and out to force all the oil out. This is best done with the tractor sitting on a large plastic tarp with a large bucket of Kitty Litter standing by to absorb the spilled oil.

Just draining the reservoir is pointless because there is more oil in the system than there is in the reservoir. A full system flush allows you to start over with 95 percent clean oil. The biggest cause of hydraulic pump and drive motor failures is due to owners not conducting a full flush of the system in a timely manner.
