When I was a kid in the mid 70's we had an old tractor that we put "million miles" on playing on it.
It had a 4 speed, Hi/Lo transmission with reverse. The shifter stuck out of the top of the transmission, the rear diff bolted to the transmission much like a modern farm tractor. I remember Dad putting the tires on it from his truck when he bought new ones (15"?).
The input shaft & pulley was on the side of the transmission that ran off of a horizontal (side) shaft engine. I remember Dad replaced the engine with an old Briggs that was much smaller in size than what was on the tractor. He also took and old VW steering box and attached it to the front for steering. We played with the thing year round pulling trailers piled full of kids and sleds in the winter..
I have been searching for nearly 15 years to find a transmission/trans axle like it for a project with the kids. I do not really care about the make or model. I would just like to find one if anyone has any leads. Especially a make or model.
