Brigs Backed up Valve Guide

Working on a Brigs&Straton Vanguard engine that was overheated (I suspect, was not there) with the classic bent, broken pushrods and backed up exhaust guide, can this guide be pressed, hammered back in and remain in place or do I need a new head?

On Youtube they say you can.

My experience is if you are fixing for someone else, you better sell them a new head. Or else you will probably get to do the job over with a new cylinder head. Also check the cooling fins for debris and make sure the engine is running rich enough-at least not surging. And of course, be sure there are still fins on the flywheel fan.

I have pushed them back into place, but also took a center punch and peened around the guide in the head, kind of staking it in placed, after you do that, make sure you clean the valve stem and the valve guide good, I use a bore brush out of a rifle cleaning kit to clean the oil and crap out of the guide.

Update, we took the head off and I give the guide a light tap and it literally fell in place, ordered a new head. Thanks for the replys.

My 14hp B&S Vanguard bent a push rod 5 years ago. I removed the head and pulled out the valves. I cleaned everything up real good. Installed a new pushrod and gaskets and it's been running good since. I contemplated on getting a new head but the cost versus the age of my machine caused me antagonism...

My enigne has 808 hours on it now. I know most people trade their zero turn mowers in when they get 600-800 hours on them but I'm gonna keep running it until it dies.
