Pella is a wonderful, interesting mid-west small town with a lot of history to take in. I stayed there for five days in the early 90's and I warmly remember how friendly everyone was. Unlike the cities, the citizens of Pella smile and nod at you as you pass them in the street. Even the pretty women do so and that.... is a rare thing anywhere. I admired how the Town was laid out originally by a man with vision. This Town has big balls too because they said NO to McDonald's until McDonald's complied with how the Town wanted the restaurant to be built, including the signage.

The McDonald's there is unlike any other McDonald's. Pella is a Town I would happily visit once again, if only to see if it is still much the way it was on my last visit. Pella is the home of Pella Windows and Vermeer, a company that builds all kinds of agricultural equipment.
