AGCO Allis 2025

What a shame. I got an Agco Allis 2025 that has a 60" Simpliciity mower deck on it & the problem isn't the tractor. I can't keep a belt on the deck to save my *%$#. The tractor has 375 hrs on it & the original deck belt lasted about 250 hrs then it blew. Ok, not bad...bought another, this time off ebay but ordered wrong type. Correct length but should of been a double V. so I put it for ($30). Lasted about 50 hrs & it blew. Bought another of ebay, this time another aftermarket type this time I got the double V. This one went about 50 hrs as well then it blew. Well, I thought I suppose I better get an OEM belt for this deck, yep..$90. Guess what?? Lasted all of 20 hrs!!! The cheap ones lasted longer. What's my problem? I checked all the bearings & sheaves & all is good. No nicks, alignments are correct. I am so done with this deck. It's going to the scrap yard. What deck can I put under this tractor? Is it a hard thing to match one up? Frustrating....not only spendy belts here but it takes about a day removing deck & changing belt & re-installing.

Have you been back to the dealer with the bad belt? If it broke clean, it may have been defective, they might replace it.

But if it shredded, chances are something is wrong with the pulleys or alignment.

Typically the factory belts are the best, especially if they are Kevlar. Most mower decks require Kevlar belts to handle the abuse they endure. I doubt you can find a double angle belt in Kevlar without going to the dealer.

I am thinking maybe a bent bearing housing. You need a straight edge to check the pulley to make sure they are square with each other.
The 2025 and 60inch deck was the best mowing machine I ever had, used JD diesels are just cheaper to put fuel in.(and the JD belts are cheaper than Simplicity)

It was a pretty clean break. However, one thing I forgot to mention that may be very crucial is prior to the original belt breaking my wife hit a log chain & wrapped it up & killed the motor so my guess the deck is wasted. From the alignment checks I made I couldn't see any major misalignment. I'll find a snowblower for the tractor now. The deck is on its way to scrap yard.

Before you scrap it. Take a close look at it and under the tractor.

Look for any belt guard that you may have routed the belt around instead of under. I have two lawn tractors that have small round post the acts as a belt guard to keep the belts from coming off of the pulleys. One I had problems with was on an idler pulley that is hard to see. Very easy to route the belt in such a way that it ran on the outside of the guard. I ruined two belts in less than a week before I caught what I was doing wrong.

I have two Legacys with the same deck and never had a problem. If you're looking to scrap your deck I'd be interested in it for spare parts. Where are you located? I'm in Elkhart Lake, WI. Thanks!

Good luck, this thread is almost 8 years old and GG1170's last post was about 6 years ago.
