Not exactly a tractor. But has a Kohler
k301s 47345b motor with electric start. I
just got it, got it running and it did
great. Took cover off welder side and
painted blue while spray painted rest
black. Did go heavy on motor except for
front cover and gas tank. After I
reassembled it, I have no spark. I have
cleaned points, new condenser, have
replaced positive and negative wires, redid
crappy wire connections. Still no luck. I
feel the magneto is bad under flywheel. I
ohm it out and have 1.2-1.3 ohms from
ground to wire going to condenser. I have
ordered new battery coil and condenser from
O'Reilly's and be here tomorrow to convert
to battery ignition I stead of magneto.
From what I have read, the generator side
charges battery. If it doesn't charge the
battery, how fast would the coil kill the
battery? It's a lawn mower size battery.
Should I replace magneto and leave it the
it is or convert it? I want it to be pretty
much bullet proof. Hate working on stuff,
especially when your needing it. Thanks in
