does any one know if a replacement coil on a cub cadet 1250 should be bought with or without a internal resister? not sure it is needed but will try it. no spark at plug? thanks for the help.

I'd get the one that kohler recommends. I tried a NAPA IC-64SB on a k241 once and that one has more points trouble than any of my other Cub Cadets.

You'll need a coil with about 3 ohms resistance across the terminals. That's typical for a 12v system without an external resistor. The NAPA number is ECH IC14.

Thank you, I'll try and find out what Kohler suggests. Sure looks like trouble replacing these points the way they are buried almost out of sight. ron

In my experience, t.r.k. has given you good advice.

In case you don't already have it, I've posted a link to the factory service manual below (.pdf format).
