PTO buries amp meter

When I engage the PTO, my amp meter goes from 10+ amps
to -30. Checked the wires to the PTO and they are in good
shape. PTO itself is measuring 2 ohms and is receiving 12.5
volts.
Any suggestions?

Welllll, you say Any Suggestions. So what I do when something electrical on my Cub Cadets or my Troy-Bilts goes of kilter, is grab the PB Blaster, and spray into ALL the electrical plug-in slots, the connections, down the push-pull knobs slots, into every electrical crack and crevice. And I've had things start to work, and work correctly again. I know, I know, but it works for me. PLUS, that PB stops corrosion, makes things slide easier, water-proofs things.

Useing ohms law & numbers you provided clutch should be drawing 6.25A,best guess would be turns in clutch coil shorted together or coil winding shorted to case.

Try borrowing an ammeter or if you have a vom capable of reading 10 or more amps & run 2 wires direct from battery & install ammeter in series with one of the battery leads & one of the coil leads & measure current draw of clutch coil.

Wellll when your clutch fries, look on flea bay and consider an "Extream" clutch. I put one on my machine this spring and it has been great. Give them a call in Florida. They are very helpful.
