B&S charging system

I have a 12hp B&S, electric start, in an old Roper lawn tractor that needs to have the battery recharged before I use it. What is the charging system like on these and can it be adjusted?
Thanks

The charging system on them is crude at best and do not even have a V.R. on them. It is a simple alternator system with a magnet and one single diode to make the AC into DC. Not much on them to go bad so your likely to have a bad wire.

Or it could be the diode died as Old posted very simple 3 amp system single wire, single diode.

I would disconnect the wires coming from the stator that's under the flywheel and check to see if you have voltage at the wire(s) when
the engine is running. If you do then the stator is good. Then I would trace the wire(s) to make sure you have voltage all the way to the
battery. It's a process of elimination.

My Woods Zero turn has had charging problems ever since I bought it used back in 2004. The 30 amp fuse socket for the charing system had
a bad socket, not tight. Finally this year I abondoned that socket in the fuse block and moved the fuse to another location and been
working fine since. So you may have a similar problem.
