briggs stratton 217807 ENGINE REPLACEMENT QUESTIONS

I'm replacing the engine on a blown DR Mower. The new engine that I'm using is a Briggs Stratton 217807 11.5 HP. It's a real close match, so far it's going pretty well.

I have a question though... there's a fuel line with a fuel filter on it. But between the carb & the air filter there's a "nozzle" or "connector" that sits on the intake.... it currently has a little yellow plastic cover or cap on it... it looks like it should have something hooked up to it, but I don't know what? From what I've seen on B&S site it says something about EVAP?

Does anyone have any insight as to what needs to be hooked up to this connector?
Thanks!

If your previous engine had the vent hose back to the fuel tank, connect it to that elbow on the intake. Otherwise, leave the yellow boot on it and it will be fine.

This was a requirement when EPA went to Tier-4 emissions. (At least I think it was Tier 4-about 3 years ago.) The fuel tank can no longer vent fuel vapor directly to the atmosphere, so its connected to the intake with a separate hose. (Where the vapor flows back through the air filter and THEN into the atmosphere.)
