Engine will not start

Mowing grass today and lawnmower just stopped. Put in a new fuel filter and cleaned out air filter.
Have spark to plugs and fuel to carb. Sprayed a little starting fluid into air cleaner chamber and
engine fired but then stopped again. Would the time delay module cause this problem of not getting any
fuel? Was running like a champ until it stopped.

This.may sound stupid but is it full of oil? My son's did the same I pulled the dipstick and wala barely showing. Filled it up and it fired right up. I told him "Even lawn mowers need oil to run."

A time delay module can certainly cause that. But that said, without more information, we can't say the time delay module IS causing the problem.

What make of mower? What engine is on it?

Thanks for telling us what it is. I bet its a water cooled Kawasaki too.

Since you say you have spark, and it fires and runs a bit on stater fluid (You're not using either are you?-very hard on pistons and rings.) Then the problem is probably in the carburetor. I am thinking that carburetor has a fuel solenoid. A two-pronged approach would be to:
1. test the fuel solenoid and make sure it retracts the plunger.(make sure if there is a rubber or plastic tip that it is staying firmly on the plunger) If you elect to remove the fuel solenoid from the carburetor with it still mounted on the engine, it is also a good idea to catch the fuel that drains from the carburetor and see if any trash drains out or if there is water in it.
and:
2. disassemble and clean the carburetor.

Well it turned out to be the fuel solenoid. Son in law got his books out and started eliminating till we got to the solenoid.
Thanks for all of your responses and help.
