I have never been on this site before. This topic may have been discussed in the past. But I could not find any thing. Not that familiar with this unit. It is a model 14A-692-010 Here's the problem: Everything was working. filter got punctured, fluid pumped out on the ground. New filter, new fluid. Now there is nothing No Power Steering. No Hyd lift for the deck, No forward of rearwared motion. ANY IDEAS!!

I am not familiar with that model number, but is that a model with a drive shaft? If so, does it use little plastic slugs in the couplings instead of a proper u-joint?

This is a long shot, but we had one in the shop sometime back where one of the couplings had failed. Stripped out the little plastic slugs, shaft spinning merrily inside the stationary coupling.

If it was run for a long time without oil it could have damaged the pump. Another thing that trashes the hydros is people towing them with a quad or pick up at anything over walking speed, or very far. If none of that happened check the shaft couplings as suggested. If all that checks out trapped air is likely the cause. The procedure to removing trapped air is to jack the rear and start the engine. Cycle the forward and reverse lever, sometimes it helps to turn the rear tires by hand. Also turn the steering wheel and cycle lift lower lever and it will bleed out,,, if nothing is damaged.

Thanks guys for responding. I wondered if there was a procedure for bleeding out air. Most hydro's I have dealt with are self bleeding. 3000 is the decal on the back fender under the seat area., the model on the plate is; 14a-692-010. It does have a solid shaft running from the engine to the hydro. Thanks again for your advice. I will let you know how it turns out.

On these models the hydro pump is handing all 3 tasks: lift, power steering, rear axle drive and if the lift mechanism is stuck, clogged or bound up nothing will work because there is an internal bypass to release pressure. Check the lift valve/lever. Also there is a hydraulic return line. If not air in the system, there may be sludge or a clog.

I realize the pump serves all those functions. If it was something in the motor part of
the unit the PS and lift would still work.

It's funny that everything worked, and a day or two later just because the fluid drained out, now nothing works. I am going to have to check with the people who did the damage. This all started when the customer had a belt break on the mower deck. The Cub Cadet dealer service kid that put the belt on punctured the filter when he replaced the deck under the tractor.

Well the mystery is solved for anybody that's interested. The service mechanic or helper whichever put on a Fram automotive engine filter with a relief valve and anti-flow back valve. NOT A HYDRO FILTER. After putting on the right filter it works fine. Thanks for the suggestions they were possible faults, but just didn't seem to fit this situation.

Now I will go back to my Minneapolis Moline site.
