Vintage Briggs Service Center?

Most people that I know that work on engines that old mainly work on their own stuff.

Parts for even a ring job, carburetor repair and a tune-up may be expensive and difficult to find. (The last ignition points I got for a model 9 were $45.) Also, from experience, If this is something you only pull out of storage and take to shows once or twice a year, it probably is going to need some work to get it running again next year.

What are your expectations? Is this Grandpa's engine and has some sintemental value?

If it was me, I would get some pictures of the engine, go to the Southeast Old Thresher's Reunion in Denton, NC July 1-5 and check with some of the guys with similar engines down in the woods there.

I sure hope you weren't expecting to take it to that show.

I am planning on going to Denton. The old Briggs is the original engine on a garden tractor I am restoring. Got so many irons in the fire was hoping to farm this one out on the rebuild. Thanks for the response...
